1.  What is a domain name server?

Domain name servers determine where your website is located. When someone types a domain name into a browser, this information is sent to that domain's primary nameserver. That nameserver, then determines where that website is located. Then, the appropriate information is retrieved from that location and displayed in your browser. Secondary nameservers are used to back up primary nameservers.
